NHSO-private clinics partnership for COVID-19 home isolation
NHSO-private clinics partnership for COVID-19 home isolation
With the rise of COVID-19 cases, National Health Security Office (NHSO) has partnered with private clinics in Bangkok to ensure the patients' access to healthcare services and medicines.
One of those clinics is Ram-Inthra Health Saha Clinic, located in the northern area of the capital. Since July 12, the clinic's medical staff have provided care to COVID-19 patients under the home isolation program --- initiated by the NHSO, Public Health Ministry, and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The home isolation program targets asymptomatic or mild symptoms patients, accounting for 80% of the confirmed cases, who are encouraged to isolate at home and spare hospital beds for moderate and critical cases. They will receive meals, medicines, and necessary medical devices while staying at home. The clinics' medical staff will monitor their health conditions via video calls.
Nantasak Sukkeaw, the owner of Ram-Inthra Health Saha Clinic, said that his clinic had provided care to 16 COVID-19 patients. He expects to expand the coverage to at least 100 patients after his staff adjusts to the reimbursement and database system set by the NHSO.
The NHSO has covered the cost of services provided by the clinic --- 1,000 baht per case for meals and health services and 1,100 baht for medical devices such as a digital thermometer and a fingertip pulse oximeter.
The NHSO has also provided favipiravir and antigen test kits to the clinic.
"The amount of funds is reasonable for us," said Nantasak, adding that the patients receiving care from his medical staff expressed their satisfaction with the care quality.
"We encourage private clinics and health units to work together and collaborate with the NHSO to provide care to COVID-19 patients under the home isolation program."
If the patients' conditions worsen, his staff will transfer the patients to hospitals such as Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, that the clinic partners with.
NHSO Deputy Secretary-General Dr Attaporn Limpanyalert said that the NHSO's partnership with Ram-Inthra Health Saha Clinic reflected the benefits of multisectoral collaboration in COVID-19 emergency response.
In addition, the NHSO and its partners have initiated the community isolation program that supports local communities to set up and manage quarantine facilities for COVID-19 patients.
