National Health Security Office of Thailand shares its experience on the implementation of UHC with representatives of the Government of Odisha, India
Thailand's National Health Security Office (NHSO) has wrapped up a knowledge exchange session, hosting eight delegations from the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, Republic of India. The event, held from January 29th to 31st, 2024, focused on Thailand's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) system.
On the first day, the delegation from the State Health Assurance Society, Odisha Department of Health and Family Welfare, visited the NHSO office. Mrs. Waraporn Suwanwela, Deputy Secretary-General of the NHSO, welcomed and briefed the group on Universal Health Coverage in Thailand.
The session was followed by a lecture on 'Managing the UCS Budget' by Dr. Nantawan Kesthom, aiming to help participants understand budgeting for the Universal Coverage Scheme.
Additionally, Mrs. Sarita Srimaroeng, Deputy Director of Consumer Service and Rights Protection at the NHSO, shared critical aspects of safeguarding consumer rights in the Thai health sector, aligning with international standards.
A walking tour of the NHSO's 1330 Contact Center and the Consumer Service and Rights Protection department was also provided to give visitors insight into NHSO's Consumer Service operation.
On the second day, the delegation visited the National Health Commission Office (NHCO) to explore 'The Participatory Public Policy Process' presented by Khanitta Saeiew, Senior Technical Officer at NHCO. The day's activities also included visiting the National Health Archives and Museum, offering a deeper understanding of the historical development of healthcare in Thailand.
The final day, January 31st, was dedicated to a visit to the Thai CaseMix Center (TCMC). The delegation engaged in comprehensive lectures and discussions on implementing Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG).
This three-day workshop exemplified the NHSO's commitment to fostering international collaboration in healthcare, emphasizing the enhancement of UHC systems through shared knowledge and global experiences.
