US Students Gain Valuable Insights into Thai Universal Health Scheme (UCS) Through NHSO Presentation
On May 18, 2023, the Faculty of Economics at Chulalongkorn University and the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Georgia, Athens (UGA) have established a promising summer educational program for UGA students, featuring an enriching lecture on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Thailand. The National Health Security Office (NHSO) has been invited to deliver this critical experiences, focusing on several key aspects of Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS), including its policy, challenges, integral IT systems, and the operation of the Contact Center and Consumer Protection. Designed to facilitate both academic exchange and practical learning. The program was inaugurated with the presence of several esteemed guests. Among them, Prof. Siripen Supakankunti, Ph.D., from the Centre of Economics for Health Economics, Faculty of Economics at Chulalongkorn University, and faculty member M. Mahmud Khan from the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. Mrs. Waraporn Suwanwela, the Assistant Secretary-General of NHSO, took the stage as the opening speaker to cordially welcome the students who have embarked on a study visit to NHSO. The lecture itself was delivered by Ms. Wilailuk Wisasa, the Director of International Collaboration on UHC in the Policy Advocacy Unit, who shared valuable insights and experience.
