NHSO, JICA project and WHO representatives visited Udon Thani province to visit Maternal and Child Health Services at Kumphawapi Hospital, which is a model for study visits on health security for other countries in the ASEAN region under The Thailand Japan partnership Project for Global Health and Universal Health Coverage (GLO+UHC Phase II), which is a collaboration between Thailand and Japan.
On February 22, 2022, Dr.Nopparat Panthusait, Deputy Director of NHSO Region 8 Udon Thani, took a delegation of NHSO, JICA. and WHO representatives are Dr. Takuma Kato, Chief Advisor of GLO+UHC Phase II, and Dr.Jos Vandelaer, WHO Representative to Thailand visited the model area for the management of Mother, infant and childhood services at Kumphawapi Hospital which is the Regional Medical Hub and the main network linking primary care units in the network of Kumphawapi District and hospitals in the Pao River Basin zone. Dr. Kriengsak Ekaphong, Director of Kumphawapi Hospital with hospital staff welcomed the group and briefed the contents of the relevant operations.
Dr.Nopparat said that Udon Thani and nearby areas will be developed into an international learning area for the health security system development under the cooperation between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Thailand by the National Health Security Office (NHSO) and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) under the name of The Partnership Project for Global Health and Universal Health Coverage (GLO+UHC) which is a project to develop the health care system for people in the health security system by focusing on strengthening the primary care unit with health promotion and prevention by Citizen Portal and the local government has a role to take part in providing services. especially health prevention & promotion in maternal and child health development especially in day care centers.
Under the cooperation Thailand and Japan will work together to develop areas to prepare for training and exchange experiences in universal health coverage development for countries in the ASEAN region who want to study health insurance as well as developing the potential of local experts to be ready for consultant or go to work in a country that needs knowledge and policy development based on real work experience.
